The Great Renter vs. FrontLobby

FrontLobby is a rent-reporting platform first. Its flagship feature needs a $239-a-year Premium membership, and tenant screening is a separate add-on on top of an account. We do one thing, tenant screening, with no account and no subscription. Every FrontLobby claim below is cited to their own site.

In fairness to FrontLobby: rent reporting is a genuinely different kind of product. It builds a tenant's credit over a tenancy rather than checking it once at move-in. If that's what you need, it's not something we offer. This page is about screening.

Why it feels different

One product, done properly.

Everything else on this page follows from that.

We only do tenant screening

No insurance, no rent collection, no lease tools, no side products. The whole company is built around getting one report right. FrontLobby leads with rent reporting and sells screening as an add-on behind an account.

No account, because there's nothing to lock you into

A portal exists to keep you coming back for the next product. We don't have a next product. Your applicant verifies themselves through a secure link, and the report lands in your inbox.

No subscription, because we don't need one

You pay for the report you need, from $19.99, and that's the end of it. No membership tier, no annual plan, no recurring percentage of anyone's rent.

One report, from $19.99. No account, no membership, and a money-back guarantee of up to $50 if it's not what you needed.

Got questions?

FrontLobby comparison, answered

Why does The Great Renter only do tenant screening?

Because the report is the product. FrontLobby's flagship feature is rent reporting, with tenant screening and debt reporting layered on the same account as paid add-ons. We don't have a platform to sign you up for, so there's no account to create and no membership to buy. Every bit of the company goes into one screening report.

Does FrontLobby require a subscription?

For its core feature, yes. FrontLobby's own help center states that a Premium membership, $239 per year, is required to report current tenants to the credit bureaus. A free Basic membership exists, but that feature isn't part of it. The Great Renter has no subscription tier at all.

Is FrontLobby the same thing as tenant screening?

Not really. FrontLobby's core product is rent reporting: sending a tenant's on-time or unpaid rent to the credit bureaus over the life of a tenancy. Tenant screening, a credit report and background check bundle, is a separate paid feature on top. The Great Renter is built for screening specifically: identity verification, an Equifax credit report, and Certn-powered watchlist and adverse media checks in one report.

Do I need to create an account to screen a tenant with The Great Renter?

No. Your applicant gets a secure link, verifies their own identity, and the report lands in your inbox. FrontLobby requires creating an account to get started, even on its free Basic tier.

Is FrontLobby only available in Canada?

No. FrontLobby's site emphasizes Canadian privacy-law compliance, but it also runs a parallel U.S. business with its own pricing and legal pages. The Great Renter is built Canadian-first and PIPEDA-compliant.
